Why Blended learning?

Bedour AL-Muqaiseeb

With the transformation of technology across different industries, it’s crucial for organizations to close skill gaps in the emerging digital space. Education and training began by incorporating computers to using the internet and, finally, the concept of blended learning. Blended learning is an approach that combines both online content and traditional instructor-led classroom training. It elevates the success of module objectives with the combination of essential learning technologies that match the individual’s learning style. This system has become pervasive in the education system in recent years. From customized studies and engagement, blended learning has immense benefits for educators, learners, and organizations.
Blended learning creates more opportunities for personalization
Instructor-led training may use a scattershot approach to teaching but incorporating online courses provides an excellent opportunity to tailor training to meet learners’ needs. Blended learning allows trainers to personalize content according to the interests and functions of the learners (Web, 2020). It makes it easier to customize learning and training modules based on the progress of an individual. It is no surprise that learners taking the same course or within the same class can move at different paces, and trainers can adapt and disseminate materials as needed.
Blended learning increases learner engagement.
Blended learning gives learners an opportunity to design their learning experience. One of the main problems for trainers is keeping the learners engaged and keep them interested in the learning content (Web, 2020). This is because of their different attention spans and different targets to be achieved. To maintain good learning engagement levels, you need to make work on the learners’. Blended learning provides learners with different opportunities for engagement using digital engagement systems. They can collaborate and communicate through message boards and emails or share progress reports on the module. The inclusion of digital opportunities for engagement helps trainers and educators track the level of engagement for learners who may not be comfortable presenting in a classroom setup.
Blended learning increases the effectiveness and satisfaction of training
As digital natives, more learners prefer digital ways of learning as they are familiar with the online environment. Blended learning provides an avenue to study concepts online and is strengthened with face-to-face training. The learners can easily assimilate difficult areas of the module (Marhabo, 2020). This is because of the multiple approaches that it utilizes. Different people have different ways of gathering and processing information, and blended learning balances that. The platform leaves no individual, as everyone is able to move at their own pace throughout the program and ask questions during live meetings. Additionally, blended learning enhances self-learning, whereby learners are required to work independently and research information online rather than sitting in class and waiting for an instructor to provide all the materials. More effective training equals more competent and empowered learners
Blended learning enhances communication and feedback
Traditional learning modes make it difficult for educators and trainers to communicate and gain feedback adequately. Self-reporting assessments may be unreliable, affecting the learners’ performance in the program (Marhabo, 2020). Thanks to blended learning, students are encouraged to collaborate and communicate at a new level. Peers can offer others support better than ever before via text, email, and messenger systems. Similarly, teachers can offer feedback in an easy-to-follow way that is all digitally recorded and can then be followed up with discussions. Feedback from learners provides an indication of an individual’s performance level. Periodic quizzes, tests, and projects display a person’s level of retention and help them track their performance.
Thanks to innovation and digital tools, learners have better avenues to increase their outcomes. A combination of virtual classes, flexible study methods, personalized learning programs, and increased engagement makes blended learning a popular approach for learners, educators, trainers, and businesses
