The event was attended by H.E. Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Professor Donald Bates, GUST President, and Dr. Salah Al-Sharhan, Vice President of Academic Affairs. Also at the ceremony was Dr. Fahed Al-Sumait, Head of the Mass Communication and Media Department, and Dr. Jean-Etienne Jouille, Assistant Professor in the Business Administration Department at GUST, and Dr. Thorsten Botz, Associate Professor in the Humanities & Social Sciences Department who were there to promote the publication of their new books. Professor Donald Bates, GUST President said, “I always say that GUST is a dynamic environment, and this event is solid proof of that statement. Our library is constantly striving to enrich its collection by providing students, staff and faculty with books by authors from various backgrounds. What’s more, this occasion also demonstrates that we have the best faculty in the country who are at the forefront in their fields of expertise.”

Attendees were introduced to the various books on display depicting the amazing literary work available at the Indian Literature Corner, which boasts 125 books about India, its history and culture, fulfilling its goal of creating a corner for students to be able to understand India and acquaint themselves with the country’s best and brightest.

The Indian Literature Corner is a permanent installation in the library and its contents will constantly be refreshed with a new showcase of the country’s best works.

Dr. Salah Al-Sharhan, VP of Academic Affairs at GUST, said, “Academia is built on scholars enriching their academic fields. We work hard on research and producing academic texts to add facts and more knowledge to the community. With these three new publications, we elevate GUST’s status from a consumer of knowledge to a producer of knowledge.”

The Indian Literature Corner in the library brings the total number of international corners to seven, and joins the pre-existing American, African, Chinese, Spanish, German and French corners.
