GUST Appoints New Director of MBA Program

   
 
• Joins GUST after 15 years at the Swansea University, UK

• Held several visiting professorial appointments in Europe, USA and China

 

Kuwait City, 8 September 2015: Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), announced today the appointment of Professor Antonis Simintiras as the new Director of the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Professor Simintiras joins GUST after nearly 15 years at the Swansea University, UK, where he held several important posts including that of the Dean of the Business School, Director of the Consumer Confidence Research Center, Deputy Dean for Internationalization, and Director of the MBA and Executive MBA Programs. Simintiras is also a member of the Academy of Marketing Science, the American Marketing Association, and the Academy of Marketing – all of which are internationally recognized professional organizations.

Professor Donald Bates, GUST President, said, “We as a university have a duty to remain relevant and constantly find ways to challenge our students. One way we do this is by searching the globe for the best professors to give them the best amalgamation of minds and experiences for their future. In fact, this has always been a point of pride here at GUST, we have, arguably, the best faculty in the country.”

 

In addition to his administrative experience, Professor Simintiras has taught courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels in subjects such as International Marketing, Market Analysis and Decision Making, Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour, and e-Marketing. Professor Simintiras has moreover successfully supervised several PhD candidates and masters dissertations.

 

Professor Simintiras, GUST’s new MBA Director said, “I am very pleased to take on this new role and hope to infuse some new energy into this fantastic program. After many years of experience in the UK, I see it as an exciting challenge to find myself at a new university, immersing myself in a new culture, and strengthening the MBA at GUST to make it more relevant to the needs of Kuwait’s future industry leaders.”

 

Professor Simintiras’ research interests are in the areas of personal selling and sales management, cross-cultural research methodology, and consumer behavior. He has co-authored a book on ‘Global Sales Management’, a monograph on ‘Success and Failure of IS/IT Projects: A State of the Art Analysis and Future Directions’, and his research output has appeared in many international academic journals including the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Psychology & Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Managerial Psychology, and the Journal of Small Business Management.  

Over the years, Professor Simintiras has held several visiting professorial appointments at renowned universities in France, Spain, Austria, Greece, Finland, USA, and China; and acted as a consultant for various companies and government organizations.
