The learning strategies help the teachers to plan lessons or develop educational materials presented as they deem appropriate to the level of their students, which makes them understand the lesson easily, one of these strategies is MOCA.
How MOCA works? MOCA is a four-letter acronym, each letter indicates something, the letter M is modify, in the sense of modifying exercises that may take a lot of time to suit the needs of students and achieve the desired goal by modifying vocabulary exercises and ensuring their relevance to more relevant terms.
O is omit, it depends on the removal of exercises or content, which importance is determined or not by the teacher himself, such as if the omit includes parts of a text that considered complex for the level of students.
C is choose, involves selecting appropriate activities and materials that support the learning objective and learners’ interests and needs, including choosing texts that suit the students’ level and selecting activities to practice specific skills.
A is an add, in which the teacher adds content to give a learning experience and provide additional opportunities for students to practice lessons and apply them, for example, adding an audio activity to enhance listening skill and other useful additions.
In conclusion, using MOCA strategy enhances the teacher’s ability to change the exercises in a way that helps students understand the lessons according to their level and qualify them to master English as a foreign language or a second language, and a good teacher can diversify the exercises and make them easier for students by using different strategies.
