GUST Hosts 6th Gulf Programming Contest
• Sixth Gulf Programming Contest to be held at GUST on March 23rd and 24th.
• GUST’s team will compete against other university teams from across the GCC.
• GPC 2016 prepares students for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) regional and world programming contest.
Kuwait City, March 15th, 2016: Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) will be hosting the Sixth Gulf Programming Contest on March 23rd and 24th. The competition, which is organized by the Computer Science Department at GUST, will be taking place in Kuwait for the first time. This year’s sponsors are Boubyan Bank and Zain.
Dr. Tahir Ali, Assistant Professor and Head of the Computer Science Department and coach of the GUST team, said “This contest is an opportunity for our students to raise the standard of their performance and enhance their programming skills in the emerging field of Computer Science. It is also a chance to prepare the students for tomorrow’s work-force, by helping them apply everything they learned in their courses at GUST to real world situations.”
GPC 2016 serves as an opportunity for university students from around the region majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or any IT related subjects to display their abilities in programming and problem solving. Participating teams will be given eight to ten programming problems to solve during a five hour period using one PC only.
