A horrific explosion has happened in Kuwait, what makes it worse is that it happened in a holy month “Ramadan”, on a holy day “Friday”, and in a holy place “mosque”. Many muslims and innocent men have been killed in this explosion. This incident surely left Kuwaiti citizens sad and shocked. The aim of this terrorist attack was to cause sedition amongst Kuwaiti people and the plan was to simply destroy Kuwait, but the reaction that followed the aftermath shocked the world because the disaster happened in a Shiaa mosque and the first to come and help the injured were Sunna. Our society proved to the world that we are like one family. Although its members differ in their personalities and the way they think, they still live in the same house and help each other when in need. I am sure that the group who planned for this crime was shocked because of the reaction of the Kuwaiti society, whereby on the following Friday Sunna and Shiaa prayed together in one mosque with the president of Kuwait – Shaikh Subah Al Ahmad Al Subah- and that reflected the unity of Kuwait in the face of vandals.

Dr. Fatma Alhaidari – a linguistics professir in College of Basic Education – said: “explain how I felt. The deadly suicide mosque attack left everyone in deep sadness and disbelief, killing 27 innocent Shiite Muslim worshippers and more than 200 injured. I myself was furious and terrified. The fatal attack took place during the holy month of Ramadan and at the Friday noon prayer while men and young children kneeled in worship. As one nation, Kuwaitis mourn the martyrs with dignity, praising their courageous souls. In fact, everyone in Kuwait even non-Kuwaitis stood together to express their national unity and represent Kuwait as one nation of Sunni and Shiite Muslims. Speaker of the Kuwaiti Parliament explained, “The huge turnout of mourners shows today, this society rejects all divisions and sectarian rifts” (Kuna.net.kw). United by one cause, people also rushed to the blood hospital to donate all blood types to the blast victims. People of Kuwait said no to terrorism by standing together as one nation and projecting themselves as one family”.

Finally, as a nation, we are saddened by the lose of our fellow citizens. On the other hand, we are proud because we united and no one accepted any harm to Kuwait. Sunna volunteered with their blood for Shia’a in the hospital, this shows that our blood is mixed together and that we will not allow anyone to succeed in committing any act of terriorism in our peaceful country.
