Mass Evacuation Seminar & Fire Drill in the Health Sciences Center
Under the patronage of the Vice President Office for Health Sciences, a seminar on “Mass Evacuation” is to be held on Sunday February 08, 2015 at 12:30 PM at the Kuwait University Health Sciences Center Auditorium in collaboration with the University Safety and Security Department, and the General Directorate for Civil Defense in the Ministry of the Interior Affairs, and the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate. The seminar will be followed by an actual fire drill of the HSC new building (that includes the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry and the Vice President Office for Health Sciences excluding the HSC Library Administration) on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM. The event reflects the continuous efforts of the Vice President Office for Health Sciences to promote a culture of safety at the University medical campus. On this occasion, Prof. Basil Al-Nakib, the Vice President for Health Sciences, said that “We aim through such events to promote a culture of safety at the Health Sciences Center. We are training both our staff and students on how to conduct themselves properly during emergencies and mass evacuations.” He added that, “This is the first time in the KU history that a fire drill is conducted to such a large building with a relatively large population.” Prof. Al-Nakib, also, explained that the Vice President Office for Health Sciences, since the year of 2009, has been keen on enhancing the safety and environmental health measures at the Health Sciences Center through a series of awareness seminars and training programs that are open to all staff and students.
Prof. Al-Nakib concluded by offering sincere thanks and gratitude to the University Safety and Security Department for their continuous cooperation especially Mr. Khalid Al-Yaqoot, the Department Director, and Mr. Yousef Al-Khamis, the Head of Safety Division. He, also, deeply thanked Major/ Mohammad Al-Sawagh and his team from the General Directorate for Civil Defense in the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Lieutenant-Colonel/ Ali Abdulrazzaq and his team from the Fire Services Directorate, the Public Security team from the Kuwait Police, and the Medical Emergencies Department in the Ministry of Health for their sincere efforts to make such an event a success.
