Raytheon’s First Cyber Academy Extended for two more semesters at Kuwait University
Kuwait, November 11th 2018 – The Department of Computer Engineering at Kuwait University in cooperation with Raytheon, a global technology and cyber security leader, announced that the Cyber Academy program has been extended for two more semesters in 2019 and 2020. The announcement was made on the heels of a graduation ceremony, which celebrated 18 students completing the first Cyber Academy, after a weeklong intensive training that taught students vital skills for combatting an array of cyber threats.
During the graduation ceremony, Kuwait University and Raytheon honored students that demonstrated their newly acquired skills after competing in a capstone exercise where students examined and secured systems using the knowledge gained over the week. Students were tasked with finding, addressing and mitigating misconfigurations and vulnerabilities in the provided targets.
Winning students included Sayed Mahmoud Al Mohri, Hussain Al Mousawi and Ahmad Al Ghanim.
The first Cyber Academy program took place at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University’s Khaldiya Campus. The Raytheon Cyber Academy aims to develop students’ cybersecurity skills and address the growing cyber talent gap around the world.
