GUST Signs Memorandum of Understanding with KISR

• First interlibrary agreement for GUST

• Agreement facilitates mutual interlibrary loaning between both institutions

• Agreement will benefit both faculty and students, providing access to a variety of books, and a more diverse array of subjects.

Kuwait City, March 21st, 2016: Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). The event was organized and conducted on campus in the presence of GUST President, Professor Donald Bates and A.M Al-Refai Library Director, Ms. Shobhita Kohli, along with KISR Director, Ms. Ghaneema Nadher, Scientific Referencing and Indexing Department Manager, Mr. Waheed Safar, and Technical Service Department Manager, Ms. Fatemah Abdul-Hameed.

Benefitting GUST faculty and students, this agreement will facilitate mutual interlibrary loaning between the two institutions. It will optimize user access to a wide range of printed books in their field of interest. This will also benefit and support both libraries by mutual sharing of resources, compliment collection development policies, control the cost of other services, and solve duplication issues.

GUST President, Professor Donald Bates, said, “GUST constantly aims to improve what it offers its students in any subject and at all levels. This agreement helps to provide them with a wider range of access to different kinds of books, and a more diverse array of subjects.”

GUST had previously signed an MOU with the Public Affairs (PA) Section of the US Embassy in Kuwait in 2006. Under this partnership, the PA section provides print and audiovisual resources which are displayed in the American Corner in GUST’s A. M. Al-Refai Library. Additionally, GUST also coordinates with the Embassy over lecture series and digital video conferences with faculty on topics of interests for their classes.
