Prof. Moudi Al-Humoud, President of the Arab Open University (AOU), announced that the AOU has earned institutional and programme accreditation by the Open University Validation Service of the Open University in the United Kingdom for a period of five years (2017-2022) for the fourth time. It has earned validation of seven programs in Business Administration, five programs in Computing and Information Technology, and two programs in English Language and Literature.

On behalf of all AOU staff, Al-Humoud expressed her congratulations to the Chairman of the AOU Board of Trustees, HRH Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Board Members, the AOU staff and students, for this achievement. She also thanked all heads and members of accreditation committees and teams from the AOU and the OU for their efforts to accomplish all the stages of re-accreditation.

Prof. Al-Humoud commended the efforts of all of Prof. Marwan Al-Akaidi, Vice President of Academic Affairs, all workers in the academic sector, Branch Directors, Program Coordinators, and Quality Assurance Director. She also extended her appreciation for the contributions of directors and employees from different work sectors and the commitment of the AOU students to achieve this success. This accreditation indicates the creditability and commitment of the University regarding the quality of its academic programs, added Al-Humoud. In addition, she commended the partnership between the AOU and the OU, which is one of the internationally prestigious universities in the field of open education.

Prof. Al-Humoud said the AOU is proud of adopting a high-quality educational system that is based on combination of traditional education, self-learning, and electronic education, adding that all the AOU staff feel proud of that their University is the first one in the region that has earned international accreditation for 15 years. The accreditation signifies a qualitative shift in the track of higher education, which meets needs and grants wishes.

On his part, Prof. Marwan Al-Akaidi said the accreditation is a result of a series of visits by the experts from the British Accreditation Council to the Headquarters of the AOU and its branches in addition to a number of meetings and comprehensive reviews of the educational process in the University.
