AOU complies with Accreditation Requirements – Prof. Marwan

AOU Organizes Lecture on Re-Accreditation

The Arab Open University (AOU) organized a lecture on Re-accreditation on the occasion of the AOU’s preparations for the academic re-accreditation by the Open University, UK, that would be finalized next May. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Marwan Al-Akaidi, Vice President for Academic Affairs at AOU, who stressed the AOU’s compliance with all requirements and conditions of local and British bodies of accreditation and quality under its partnership with OU.

During the lecture, Al-Akaidi marked the importance of the academic re-accreditation and its procedures and preparations. He addressed a number of topics, including, most importantly, conditions of re-accreditation, the system of quality assurance, intellectual property, the relationship of the university within and outside the academic community, and the requirements of the accreditation of each programme offered by the AOU in partnership with the OU.

Al-Akaidi highlighted the big responsibility resting with all AOU staff for a successful evaluation to obtain the academic re-accreditation. He added, “Re-accreditation is deserved due to the AOU’s compliance with the procedures and preparations of re-accreditation, and to the AOU’s efforts and commitment to applying all standards set by the local and international bodies for accreditation and quality, in particular the standards of institutional and academic accreditation bodies in the UK”

He pointed to the positive effect of the academic re-accreditation on the AOU’s commitment and credibility to the high quality of its academic programmes. He added, “The re-accreditation means the University is highly developed to be competitive to regional universities and those of developed countries.”
