AOU organizes workshop of Art of News 


   A workshop entitled Art of News Writing was organized by the Training Center of the Arab Open University (AOU) for the Public Relation staff at the University and delivered by Waleed Al-Suraya, an expert in the field of media and journalism. Ali Al-Qallaf, Director of the Information and Cultural Relations Department at the AOU-Headquarters, stressed the importance the role of media in people’s life, communities and states. He added that the AOU highly values the role of Kuwaiti mass media and their support of the University in publishing its academic and developmental accomplishments at the local and regional levels.

   Al-Qallaf pointed out that the Information and Cultural Relations Department at the AOU is keen on strengthening ties with all mass media in the countries that the AOU branches operate, and dedicated to achieving the AOU’s vision and mission in the Arab and international communities as being a leading model of the blended learning, adding that the AOU seeks to promote its social and cultural responsibility in the arena of development in order to translate its noble vision set by HRH Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, the founder of the University.

   On his part, Waleed Al-Suraya emphasized the importance of the university media in highlighting the bright academic image of the University and the role of mass media in publishing this image to the audience professionally and objectively. During the workshop, Al-Suraya addressed several topics, including the history of the press, the concept of journalism, the role of journalists; the sources, types, styles and rules of news writing; and the characteristics of the good journalist. He recommended, at the end of the workshop, that all trainees need to keep on training since it is the key to good news writing which will serve the University’s goals.
